On April 26, I directed a bicycle race that took place in Wetzel and Monroe counties. Every rider was complimentary about the natural beauty of our area and the friendliness of the local people. They were also well pleased with the support they received along the route from area bicyclists who gave up a day of riding to help out. I would be remiss if I didn’t give a special thank you to Art and Carol Burnside whose extra work made my job much easier. In addition, Chief of Police Tim Cecil and Officer Don Larsen made sure the riders were protected at every turn in the race. Officer Larsen literally went the extra mile(s) as he made sure that each and every participant made it safely to the finish.
