Do Your Part

There are many suggestions. In fact they may rival the number of complaints. But none of the suggestions of how to control the stray animal problem can truly get to the root of the problem.

Virtually any animal problem, at least with the domesticated kind, comes down to irresponsible humans. It has nothing at all to do with the animals themselves.

People who “own” cats and other animals need to be responsible and conscientious of others. Many are afraid or allergic to animals. Just because you love them does not mean your neighbors do. If they wanted animals, they would have their own.

We know a community full of kind, conscientious animal owners is a pipe dream, but all we can do is hope that those who are contributing to the problem-in New Martinsville and around the county-will realize the error of their ways and begin to take the necessary steps to alleviate the problem. With everyone’s effort, it can be solved.
