Wilcox Resigns

Paden City Recorder Ginger Wilcox resigned from her post effective immediately Monday.

City council held an emergency meeting Monday evening and appointed Utility Clerk Larry Shepherd to fill the remainder of her term which expires June 30. With her resignation, Wilcox also withdrew her name from ballot for the June 4 election. Shepherd has filed for the office of recorder, the sole registrant at this time.

Other who have filed for election include: Jarrell Bailey, First Ward; Richard Wright Jr., Second Ward; and Eileen Smittle, Third Ward. The last day to file for office is April 3 at 4 p.m. in the recorder’s office of the city building.

Polls open at 6:30 a.m. and close at 7:30 p.m. Election Day.

The last day to register to vote in the city election is May 15.

In other municipal elections, Hundred closes it’s filing for the June 9 election at 4 p.m. Friday. So far two people have filed for mayor: incumbent Charles Sine and Eric Melczak. Incumbent Recorder Sherry Hayes is the sole registrant for that office. Only incumbents Philip Lightner, Johanna Lemasters, and Dan Curry have filed for the five council positions. All terms are for two years.

Also, the last day to file for office in Pine Grove is today. A list of current registrants was not available.
