A sealed indictment handed down by Wetzel County grand jurors Jan. 13 was unsealed in Wetzel County Circuit Court recently.

Robert A. Goddard, 71, of Rt. 1 Box 124, Proctor, has been charged with 46 counts of a sexual nature. The exact charges are being withheld at this time at Assistant Prosecutor Worthy Paul’s request so as to protect the alleged victim.

Goddard appeared with Defense Attorney David Jividen Feb. 26, but his other counselor, Fred Gardner, had been hospitalized the previous day and was unable to attend the court hearing.

With no objection from Paul, the matter was passed until March 26 at 1 p.m. A cash/surety/property bond of $25,000 was set and Goddard is to have no contact with the alleged victim.
