I’m writing in regards to the letter written by Mr. Dan Knowlton on January 21, 2009. Why would it be the patrolmen’s responsibility to insure the Christmas lights are turned on?

If it requires little time, and “Shucks, you don’t even have to get your hands dirty,” why don’t you volunteer your time and energy and turn the Christmas lights on next year? I’m sure the citizens would appreciate your help. You would be the ideal volunteer, since you know where all the breakers are located and on which phone poles.

We may live in a small community, but I am glad my family and community have very highly skilled police officers in our area. Did you know that all the current Paden City Police Officers graduated from the West Virginia State Police Academy in the top 10 out of their graduating class?

So you may look down upon them because the force is made up of young men, but I think they are more qualified than to flip on Christmas lights.
