Traditional Transfer

By Staff | Jan 14, 2009

It appears that we’re in a patriotic mood here at the Wetzel Chronicle, judging by the lengthy columns on this page. And why shouldn’t we be?

After all, our country will be turning a new page on Tuesday as President-elect Barack Obama takes the oath of office. Whether the person being sworn into the highest office in our land matched your vote or not, we can all take pride that our country rests on the values and structure that allow for a peaceful and orderly transfer of power. For many reasons this year’s inauguration has the potential for turmoil, but we hope and pray that our country will continue its fine tradition in an upright and orderly fashion.

You could say that our country was built on the principles of tolerance and respect for other people. We trust that spirit will prevail as we embark on this next leg of the journey.

After all, we’re all in this together.
