Who's Protecting our Children?

New Martinsville has 28 registered sex offenders. According to state code ยง 62-12-26 (b)(1), a sex offender cannot live within 1,000 feet of a school or childcare facility. If that's the case then why is one living directly behind the Board of Education and another directly behind the college downtown? In fact there are several living within 1000ft of our schools. And let's not forget the child molesting preacher in Pine Grove that lives next to the high school. Why is this allowed to happen? I understand it's the state police's job to enforce but does that make it right for local law enforcement to turn a blind eye? State law requires that the prosecuting attorney and local law enforcement be notified any time an offenders address is updated or the person moves out of town, so again " Who's Protecting our Children"?
