Huntington apartment building fire ruled arson

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (AP) — Huntington Fire Chief Carl Eastham says a fire at an apartment building was deliberately set.

Eastham tells The Herald-Dispatch ( ) that authorities have detained two people for questioning.

The fire at the three-story building was reported at 6:21 a.m. Monday. The building was evacuated and firefighters contained the fire to one apartment. No one was injured.

Eastham says investigators determined that the fire was arson. He says another fire occurred outside the building earlier Monday.

Smoke damage was reported throughout the building.
