Zimmerman Seeks To Become Wetzel Magistrate

Billie Zimmerman, a native to Wetzel County, has filed candidacy in the upcoming May elections for Magistrate.

Zimmerman, well acquainted with WV State Law, will apply it fairly to both criminal and civil cases heard before the court. She has served as a dispatcher for the New Martinsville Police Department and as a municipal court clerk for the New Martinsville Municipal Court. Zimmerman has previously received certification as a Municipal Court Judge.

With over 19 years of experience dispatching, Zimmerman began her career as a dispatcher for the Paden City Police Department and from there moved on to Wetzel County Emergency 911 Service.

Zimmerman attended Wetzel County schools, graduating from Magnolia High School class of 1990. She holds a Veterinarian-Animal Science correspondence degree from ICS in Scranton, PA. She attended West Virginia Northern Community College, majoring in Criminal Justice and minoring in Paralegal studies. Zimmerman has previously been certified in W.E.A.P.O.N.S (WV Automated Police Network System), EMD (Emergency Medical Dispatching), and has attended training on Methamphetamines.

Zimmerman is the youngest of three children, born and raised in Wetzel County. She is the daughter of Jean Conley Lancaster and the late Joe Lasure. She is the sister of Rodney (Brenda) Lasure of Pine Grove and Joyce (Don) Rush of Sistersville. She and her husband Jeremy Zimmerman reside in New Martinsville with their youngest daughter, Cassie. Zimmerman also has two older children, Brandon Loy and his wife Jackie of Pine Grove and Ashlea Kocher and her husband Michael, who reside in Kailua, Hawaii where Michael is stationed with the United States Marine Corps. Zimmerman has four granddaughters, Kendall and Kylin Loy and Dawson and Devan Kocher.

She is a member of the Refuge Church of God in New Martinsville, The American Legion Post #28 Women's Auxiliary, WCDCW (Wetzel County Democratic Women), Women of the Moose 2165, Red Hat Society, Quota International, Wetzel County Autumn Fest Board, and she is the founder of the Stocking of Cheer Program.

Zimmerman's heart lies within Wetzel County, and she believes the citizens deserve the very best. Being an ordinary Wetzel County resident herself, Zimmerman aims to fulfill the duties of Magistrate anytime day or night and not just as someone to stand behind a campaign sign.

She states "My job is to be a Public Servant to the citizens, be there for those seeking assistance from the judicial system, and most importantly be there for you."

Her goals are to apply the laws set forth by the state of West Virginia, using her integrity in a committed, honest, fair, and impartial manner. She will see that matters are handled in a timely fashion. Zimmerman will always be available, accessible, and accountable to all requiring her assistance. She will conduct her office with an open door policy where everyone will be treated with respect.
