Quinet 5K Race a Success

July 31, 2019
By Ed Parsons - Editor , Wetzel Chronicle

A total of 162 race enthusiasts young and old took advantage of a beautiful Saturday, morning July 27, to make the Jim Quinet Memorial 5-K run/walk a huge success. Jim Quinet was a staple of the community for many years with his friendly smile and kind heart. Still to this day it's not uncommon to hear customers in the famous restaurant comment on the quality of the food and say, "it's still the same as Jim and Raymond wanted it."

Matt and Nancy continue the same tradition of great service, great food and a friendly atmosphere that makes everyone return day in and day out. Matt a long-time runner started the Jim Quinet memorial with one thought in mind. He wanted to continue Jim's kindness and what better way than creating a charity/scholarship event.

Saturday's race brought out a nice crowd including a few members of Magnolia High Schools 1961-62 undefeated football team and state champion basketball team. There were kids from 5-85 all joining in to make for another successful event in honor of one of New Martinsville's greatest.
