The West Virginia Health Care Association (WVHCA) recently honored Stacia Highley, director of rehabilitation and physical therapist at New Martinsville Center Genesis HealthCare, with the WVHCA’s Individual Excellence in Therapy Award.

Highley received the recognition for delivering exemplary care in therapy.

A graduate of West Virginia University, Highley also has a doctorate in physical therapy from Wheeling Jesuit University. She has 11 years of experience in long-term care. She also has served at Sistersville Center Genesis HealthCare.

During the awards ceremonies, WVHCA members recognized Highley for her communication skills, knowledge of her residents, and her ability to match their needs with the members of her team who can be most beneficial to them.

“Stacia practices person-centered care, and she demonstrates how effective that strategy is,” New Martinsville Center Executive Director Chris McBee said. “Teamwork is important to Stacia, and she works to build bridges between departments. She brings together nursing and therapy in an interdisciplinary approach to provide care.”
