Hundred Girls On A Roll, Beat Wood County, 41-29

January 30, 2019

The Hundred Hornets girls' basketball team has been on a roll lately and put another notch on its belt, beating the Wood County Christian, 41-29, on Jan. 21 in Wood County.

The Lady Hornets raced out to a comfortable 15-7 lead after one period of play, thanks in part to Katherine Henderson's and Mahalah Britton's offensive play. The players generated 13 of the team's 15 first-quarter points.

Henderson continued her outstanding senior play with 11 of the team's 24 points in the second and third periods, helping to push the lead to 39-17 with one period remaining.

Most of the Hornets' starters played briefly in the last eight minutes, which caused Wood County to make the game somewhat closer with a 12-2 run in the final period, with Hundred winning, 41-29.

Henderson and Britton each recorded double-doubles with Henderson scoring 19 points, and hauling in 10 rebounds. Britton added 10 points and 14 rebounds. Henderson also added two blocks, assists and steals. Britton was three blocks away from having a triple-double.

In addition, Addie Tuttle provided six points, made five steals and grabbed five rebounds from her guard position. Rachel Snedden and Kayla Davis scored four and two points, respectively, while Emily Metz didn't score. However, Metz compiled three assists, steals, rebounds and outstanding defense.

Sarah Michael was the only Wood County player to hit in double-figures. She tallied a dozen points all in the second half of play.
