Magnolia freshman Trevor Williamson his game-high 19 points, including four baskets from beyond the arch, to lead Magnolia to a come-from-behind 69-60 victory over a stunned Paden City team on Jan. 5 inside the Bob Burton Gymnasium.

The Wildcats used a 12-0 run, midway though the first quarter, to take a 18-12 lead after the first eight minutes of play. The Eagles' Jake Gamble, Jacob Miller and Trenton Schiebelhood each tallied a two pointer to give the Big Blue a 6-4 lead to start the game. Both teams struggled to get many points in the second period, but the Eagles' Matt Gaiser opened things up with a made free throw, while Schiebelhood tallied the next three points to give Magnolia its first lead since early in the opening stanza.

However, the Wildcats' Matt Saxon scored five of the next eight points that started with a triple and ended with a nifty rebound put-back, to give the hosts a 23-20 halftime lead.

Cain tickled the twine from downtown, and Jason Anderson sank a pair of free-throws to open the third; however, Gaiser sank a deuce at the 6:20 mark, while Gamble and Miller countered with a free throw and a deuce, respectively.

Paden City went on a 7-0 run, starting with a Cain triple and ending with another Anderson deuce, but the Eagles would go on a 5-0 run - starting with a Gamble drive for two at 35-27 with 4:44 on the clock.

Saxon grabbed a board and went the distance with a deuce, while Miller and the 'Cats Ethan Cross traded bonus bombs to push the Wildcat advantage to 10 points at 40-30.

McKeever made his presence felt with a free throw, but Cross scored the Wildcats' last three points of the period, while Gamble ended the third with a pair of two-pointers to make it 43-35 with eight minutes remaining in regulation.

The Eagles' Gavin Postlethwait came off the bench and scored two points to open the fourth, while Cain matched it with two free throws for the Wildcats.

This is when Williamson started to heat up and scored back-to-back three-balls to pull the Eagles within two at 45-43. Cross missed the front end of a one-and-one, and Gamble pulled the Big Blue to within a free-throw.

However, Saxon kept the ball alive on the offensive board and scored to push the lead back to three points. Postlethwait made a basket for Magnolia, and Paden City missed on a one-and-one opportunity. Williamson then hit two straight three point baskets to lift Magnolia to a 52-49 lead with 4:54 left.

Paden City called a time-out. Saxon hit the first of two free throws before Postlethwait added another basket off the glass. Anderson followed with a nice inside bucket before Gamble banked one in.

Paden City went to the free throw line and hit one of two. Gamble rebounded the miss and went coast-to-coast for another two for Magnolia at the 3:45 mark.

Up to this part of the game, Paden City missed five charity tosses, including a pair of front end misses in a one-and-one situation, while Williamson connected on four bonus bombs - making 7-8 from the free throw line. Postlethwait added three baskets inside to help lift Magnolia to their first victory of the season.

Williamson finished with 19, and Gamble tacked on 16-points. Miller followed with eight points, with two triples. Gaiser, Scheibelhood and Postlethwait each scored six. McKeever tacked on four with one triple. Eli Nice sank a pair of two-pointers to end the Magnolia scoring.
