Commission Discusses Purchase Of Police Cruiser
At the Wetzel County Commission’s regular meeting Tuesday, Dec. 4, Paden City Police Chief Bob Kendle requested help with the purchase of a police cruiser. Chief Kendle said the municipality of Paden City is having financial difficulties, and the police department is in desperate need of another cruiser. Chief Kendle said the department’s cruiser has 131,000 miles on it and is a 2004 model. The vehicle’s headlights and air conditioning do not function; the steering is deteriorating, and many times, the vehicle needs jump-started in the mornings. Kendle requested any aid the commission could provide.
It was noted Paden City could not afford to take on anymore debt; also, the town is about to implement a water rate increase and does not want to ask the residents for an increase in the police fee.
