A Paden City home as been destroyed due to a Nov. 3 fire, according to Paden City Volunteer Fire Department Chief Jim Richmond.

The fire occurred at 122 N 1st Avenue in Paden City at the residence of Melvin Billiter.

Richmond said the cause of the fire is undetermined at this point. The fire was reported at around 9 a.m., Saturday morning and caused slight damage to the home next door.

Richmond said the house is "pretty much" a total loss, and the roof rafters were destroyed as a result of the fire.

Paden City VFD was assisted by New Martinsville Volunteer Fire Department. The fire was under control in about 1.5 hours, but firefighters did stay on scene for about 2.5 hours to ensure there were no hot spots.

Mr. Billiter was not home at the time of the fire, and there were no other individuals or animals at the home.
