Magnolia Girls finish behind Tyler in WTTL

Tyler Consolidated scored 122.50 points to Magnolia's 99, claiming the first Wetzel/Tyler Track Meet, held at the Knights' track on Monday, April 2. Valley got third place with 47 points, while Paden City finished with 24.50 for fourth. Beallsville ended with nine for the fifth spot.

In the 100-meter dash, Magnolia grabbed first place as Mikalyn Renner ran a 14.9 to edge out Valley's Kendall Williams. The Blue Eagles also got the third place finish from Nicole Turner. The 200-meter dash belonged to Magnolia as the Eagles got the first three spots with Kennedy Parsons breaking the 30 second mark, with a run of 29.6, to come away the winner. Valley got fourth, while Tyler Consolidated got the fifth and sixth places. Parsons also took the open 400-meter in style with a nice 1:05.0 time, to out-distance Silver Knight Katie Pratt, who had a 1:13.0. The Blue Eagles grabbed the next three spots, and Beallsville finished sixth.

The 800-meter run saw Tyler Consolidated get the top two spots, while Magnolia finished third. Jahnvi Duncan out-ran teammate Abi Thompson to the finish line for first with a 2:54.5. Thompson got a 2:59.4 to win over Aubrey Hall of Magnolia with the same time. The 1600-meter run was won by Magnolia's Karina Patel over Valley's Emma Beatty. Patel ran a 6:33.6.

Sophie Palmer of Valley won the 100-meter hurdles in a time of 18.0. Magnolia and Tyler Consolidated finished second and third. The 300-meter hurdles were won by Magnolia's Leneica Grimm in 57.6; the Silver Knights finished in the next four spots.

Paden City got a first place finish in the 4x100 relay as the Wildcats bested Tyler Consolidated and Beallsville. The Wildcats ran the race in 58.8 with a nice team effort from Abbe Stackpole, Destiny Duncan, Destiny Harris, and anchor Mallory Yeater. Paden City used the same team to easily out-distance the Silver Knights, 2:02.7 to 2:16.1.

Tyler picked up a win in the 4x400 as the Knights ran a 5:26.2 with a team of Eden Turner, Nelson, Duncan and Pratt. They also won the 4x800 in 12:32.0 with Duncan, Emma Paden, Abi Thompson and Pratt.

Magnolia won the 4x102.5 shuttle hurdle relay with a winning time of 1:22.3 with Alyssa Kocher, Allie Litman, Grimm and Liza Clegg. The Silver Knights finished in the second and third spots, while Paden City claimed fifth.

Sophie Palmer won the high jump with a jump of 4-06, and the Silver Knights got the next three spots. In the girls long jump, Silver Knight Joralda Rice captured the win with a leap of 14-03.00, followed closely behind by Paden City's Abbe Stackpole who leaped 14-00.00. The Blue Eagles' Kyndra Pilant won the shot put with a toss of 30-00.00, and also took the discus with a throw of 96-0.
