According to Paden City Fire Chief Jim Richmond, a Jan. 11 fire resulted in a total loss of a North Fifth Avenue, Paden City home. The home is located approximately one block west of Paden City's Go Mart.

Chief Richmond said the fire department received the call on the fire at around 8:30 p.m. and responded immediately. New Martinsville Volunteer Fire Department was called to assist at the scene.

Richmond said the fire was under control within two hours, but the house was "a total loss."

Richmond said the cause of the fire is unknown due to the fact the house had suffered so much damage prior to firefighters arriving on scene. He said the fire burned "quickly."

When asked if the fire was under investigation, Richmond said it was undetermined. He said there were no injuries from the fire.

The chief also said the home was owned by Susan Henthorn, who is now residing with family.
