NEW CUMBERLAND, W.Va. (AP) — Police say a body found in a small, steep ravine is believed to be that of a missing New Cumberland teenager.
Hancock County Sheriff Ralph Fletcher tells media outlets that a canine search and rescue team from Tyler County found the body on Monday. The body was discovered about 300 yards from the property of 16-year-old Anthony Pittman's family.
Fletcher says evidence recovered in the immediate area suggests that the body is that of Pittman.
The body has been sent to the West Virginia Medical Examiner's Office in Charleston for an autopsy and identification.
Pittman was reported missing on May 29.
