Keep Up the Good Work, Wetzel Schools

By Staff | Mar 1, 2017

Wetzel County Schools has a lot to be proud of, as can be seen in the past few issues of the Wetzel Chronicle. The lengthy principal’s list and honor roll lists have taken up a few pages, for instance.

And check out last week’s story on the high schools being recognized for excellence in graduation rates, or check out the story on the school system’s nutrition program being nationally recognized. Furthermore, how wonderful is it to have representation of local boy and girl scout troops at board meetings? It seems like we always have something ready to fill our pages, concerning Wetzel County Schools.

It seems fitting that last week the board entered into a four-year contract with Superintendent Ed Toman. The news was greatly appreciated the night we broke it on our Facebook page. There were two dozen excited comments, and more than 100 “likes.”

Needless to say, Superintendent Toman was excited when we spoke to him about the contract. A Wetzel County native, he knows the area and wants to be back at his roots. We, too, are excited – for Toman and the school system. We are glad for the stability, and from the looks of our coverage lately, the school system has some good times in its future.
