After a devastating shoulder injury that benched him during his junior’s year, Logan Carroll is eager to hit the field for the Paden City Wildcats this football season in the position as running back.

Carroll, who has been described as a leader on the field, is anxious to return his senior year to not only football, but to basketball and track as well. Athletics director and head basketball coach Fred King stated that when the Wildcats lost Carroll that night against River High School, they lost a sense of toughness, though they still won the game.

“If this young man stays healthy enough to play, we are in the playoffs … We lost a sense of toughness that we never gained back. Not to say that our kids aren’t tough, but Logan brings a special kind of toughness, not only to football but to basketball as well. Not very many people draw charges,” King said.

Carroll, a starter at running back who has been playing football since sixth grade, enjoys the sport because he gets to hit people. Though, through the years, Carroll as learned and played every position and tries to stay as versatile as possible.

Carroll, who has been described as not afraid to throw this body out there, carries a 4.0 grade point average and is natural leader on and off the field.

“I try to be a leader, not everyone knows how to be one, so I have stepped up, ” Carroll said.

King said that while Carroll was injured for the rest of the football season and half of basketball season, he was helping to teach the players the plays and guiding them as well.

Carroll, the son of Susan and Lemeul Carroll, of Paden City, has lettered in football, basketball and track. He also lettered his freshman year in baseball. He is the member of the First Baptist Church in Paden City and Mu Alpha Theta, which is a national honor society for math. Outside of school and sports, Carroll works at Pizza Hut and mows yards on the side.

After high school, Carroll plans on attending West Virginia University and earning a bachelors and masters in business management. Depending on how he does this year in football, he may try to walk on and play for the Mountaineers.
