Positive Things Going On for Our Youth

May 6, 2015
Wetzel Chronicle

A great deal has been happening lately for the youth of Wetzel County, and we couldn't be more pleased with the positive nature of the news. Check it out yourself in the past few week's editions of the Wetzel Chronicle.

From local prom photos to the first ever art show for the high schools, the youth in the area are making their mark.

Even those not officially in school are being spotlighted in the news, as the Martyn Early Learning Center held an open house in honor of The National Head Start Association celebrating "50 Years of Opportunity." If you didn't stop in at this event, you surely missed out on an opportunity to see the incredible things that the youngest Wetzel Countians are doing, from planting vegetables to creating unique works of art.

Just a few short weeks ago, fourth graders at New Martinsville School were able to take home their very own Colorado Blue Spruce tree, thanks to the local Lions Club. You can see photos from that event also featured in this week's Wetzel Chronicle.

Too often, we know the younger generations can be criticized, whether it be for seeming to not care about the world around them or perhaps making the news, in a bad way.

However, we think our paper can tell a different story, that this isn't the case at all. It seems to us that perhaps these kids have good heads on their shoulders, and a future filled with positive potential. So as you peruse this week's news and photos, we hope you take a smile or two away from your reading at the good things the youngest of our community are doing. When putting this week's paper together, we know we did.
