The following matters were approved at the July 21 meeting of the Wetzel County Board of Education:

Employment and/or Changes in Employment:

Retirements:

Glenn E. Clark, II, acceptance of retirement from position as head custodian at Magnolia High School, effective the end of the day on July 31.

Rita Carol Roberts, acceptance of retirement from position as sixth/eighth reading teacher at Long Drain School, effective June 30, 2014.

Resignations:

Sarah E. Carlisle, acceptance of resignation from position as guidance counselor at Paden City High School, effective immediately.

Rita Carol Roberts, acceptance of resignation from positions as academic coach and LINKS coordinator at LDS, effective June 30, 2014.

Kathi D. Schmalz, acceptance of resignation from position as LINKS coordinator at MHS, effective immediately.

Professional Personnel:

Adam B. Beatty, approval for change in assignment from technology systems specialist - countywide, based at WCCCF, 240-day contract, to county technology supervisor - countywide, based at WCCCF, 240-day contract, effective July 22.

Routine Matters:

Request to Attend Wetzel County Schools:

Approval of request from Kimberly Wilson for her son, Spencer Billings, to continue attending Wetzel County Schools (PCES) for the 2014-2015 school year, pending release from Tyler County.

Release from Wetzel County Schools:

Approval of request from Shayne and Alana Minor for their daughter, Cara Lee Paige Minor, to be released from Wetzel County Schools (LDS) to attend Marion County Schools for the 2014-2015 school year.

Golf Fees:

Approval of request from Dave Tallman, golf coach at MHS, for payment of $500 fee for the use of the course at Fairway Riverside Golf Course in Sardis for the upcoming 2014-2015 "WVSSAC" Season.

Approval of request from Nate Tallman, golf coach at PCHS, for payment of $500 fee for the use of the course at Fairway Riverside Golf Course in Sardis for the upcoming 2014-2015 "WVSSAC" Season.

Lease Agreements:

Town of Hundred Athletic Field leased from the Town of Hundred beginning July 30, expiring June 15, 2015, for $9,300.

Huskie Lumber Property on state Route 7 leased from the Huskie Lumber Company Company (for parking buses in the Hundred Area) beginning Oct. 16, 2014, through October 15, 2015, for $2,400.

Pine Grove Land leased to the Wetzel County EMT Squad, Short Line Area, for one dollar per year beginning the first day of July 2014 through June 30, 2015.

Fund Raisers:

Per advisement of the Board's legal counsel, the superintendent recommends that the board approve the following groups/organizations tovraise funds (monies) in the name of a particular school in Wetzel County:

Paden City Elementary School: PCES, PCES PTA, PCES Art, PCES Chess Club, PCES Library, PCES Choir, PCES Boosters, PCES Relay for LIFE, PCES Leukemia

Out of State Trips:

Approval of request from Shane Highley, director of elementary curriculum and instruction (Pre-K-6) and Title I, for Jennifer Eller and the SLS summer school staff to take the summer school students from SLS on a trip to Carnegie Museum in Pittsburgh, Pa., on July 22. Funded through Title I.

Approval of request from Thomas Myers, Director of Music, to take the marching band students from Magnolia High School to Martins Ferry, Ohio, for the OVAC Showcase of Bands on Oct. 18 at no expense to the Wetzel County Board of Education.
