Kent Pilant To Enter Hall Of Fame

Kent Pilant of New Martinsville, a 1997 graduate of Glenville State College and currently lives in New Martinsville will be one of five individuals inducted into Glenville’s Curtis Elam Athletic Hall of Fame on Saturday, May 31, in the Alan B. Mollohan Community Center at the college. The event will begin at 5 p.m. with a meet-and-greet social hour.

The Hall of Fame was established in 2001 with the generosity of the late Curtis Elam, a 1949 graduate of Glenville.

In his career, Pilant has established the following records: WVIAC and NAIA District Championships: 110 meter hurdles (1992, 1993, 1994, 1995); 4×100 (1992, 1993, 1994, 1995); 4×400 (1992, 1993, 1994, 1995); 400 meter dash (1995); and the 400 meter hurdles (1995).

In 1995 he was named WVIAC Athlete of the Year and also participated in the following with records: WVIAC Meet High Point Individual; and was the WVIAC Meet Record Holder in 110 Meter Hurdles 14.68.

Pilant is undefeated for career in the WVIAC in 110 Meter Hurdles; Outdoor Track School Records in the 110 meter hurdles 13.8 and the 4×100 in 41.6,; as well as the 4×400 in 3:18.8. I

He also holds the following indoor track school records: 55 meter hurdles in 7.74 and the 4×400 in 3:28.3. In 1995, he became a NAIA National Track and Field Championship Qualifier in the110 meter hurdles and the 4×100.

His team accomplishments include: 1992, NAIA District 28 Champions; 1993, WVIAC and NAIA District 28 Champions; 1994: WVIAC runner-up; 1995 WVIAC Champions; 1997 Frank Montrose Award; and 1995 All American.
