Blue Eagles Lose One Game; Valley Wins Three

Derrick Blain plated a run on a pair of singles, while Jake Starkey knocked in one with a single. But it wasn’t enough to get past the Brooke Bruins 6-3 in high school baseball action May 3 at Mullett Field in New Martinsville.

Zach Willhoite and Devon Kelly scattered eight eights and didn’t walk a batter.

Valley 10, Trinity 9

Brandon Stoneking singled, doubled and homered twice, while knocking in five runs to lead the ‘Jacks to a 10-9 thriller in Pine Grove May 3.’

Peyton Palmer stole a base, singled three times and knocked in three runs, while Taylor Bates singled, doubled and scored three times. Dusty Lowe and Colton Ring each singled twice.

Palmer struck out 13 batters and walked three in getting the win from the mound.

In the nite cap, Stoneking knocked in three runs on three doubles, while Triston Kocher stole a base, singled and doubled to lead the ‘Jacks in the nite cap.

In addition, Bates singled twice, while Palmer and Colby Bucher each knocked in a run with singles. Pete Shaw worked two innings, struck out one and walked two, while Stoneking mopped up, striking out 14 and walking five to pick up the win in relief.

Valley 7,

Beallsville 6

Bucher singled and homered, while knocking in three runs, to help Valley beat Beallsville 7-6 in baseball action May 1 in Pine Grove.’

Stoneking smacked three doubles and brought home three runs, while Palmer knocked in a run on a pair of singles. Bucher started, struck out three and walked one in three innings of work, while Lowe worked two frames to strike out three and walk as many. However, Stoneking worked the final two innings from the mound to get the win, striking out five of the seven batters he faced.
