The Eagles' Chase Miller jacked two home runs out of Mullett Stadium April 17 to help Magnolia claim game one of a double-header, 11-1, over Monroe Central.
Zach Wilhoite held the Seminoles to a pair of hits, struck out five and walked two. Miller added a single and a double with three RBIs to go along with his two round-trippers from the plate.
In addition, Grant Cain continued to pound the ball, adding a single and a double, while knocking in a run. Brandon Mason, Jake Starkey and Derrick Blain each recorded RBI singles for Magnolia in game one.
'In game two, it was a little of the same, outstanding pitching and clutch hitting, as Magnolia posted another 11-1 victory over Monroe.
Starkey limited the 'Noles to six hits, struck out five and walked one from the rubber. Cain continued the hitting barrage with a single and an RBI triple, while Wilhoite whacked a double and pair of singles to bring around four teammates.
In addition, Miller added to his stats a pair of singles and two RBIs, while Chase West singled in a run.
The Eagles will travel to East Fairmont tonight to take on former Blue Eagle standout Joe Price's East Fairmont baseball team at 5 p.m.
The Magnolia baseball team split double headers with Sissonville and Ripley April 19 in Sissonville, winning the opener against Sissonville 3-2 and losing to Ripley in the nite-cap, 16-8.
Against Sissonville, the Blue Eagles scored a run in the top of the seventh to get the win. Tyler Anderson smacked two singles and knocked in a run, while Brandon Mason brought home a run with a single to lead the Blue at the plate.
Chase Miller and Zach Wilhoite combined on a four-hitter. Miller worked the first six innings, struck out three and walked three got the win, while Zach Wilhoite pitched the seventh to get the save.
In the nite-cap, Ripley broke it open in the seventh with six runs, with Magnolia using Derrick Blain, Tanner McAdams, Jake Starkey and Garrett Price in the loss.
Anderson collected four hits, while Starkey and Blain each smacked two, and Miller lined a double.
Magnolia's Brandon Mason knocked in four runs with a pair of singles to help Magnolia win its sixth of the last seven games with an 11-0 shutout over Clay-Battelle April 21 in Blacksville.
Zach Wilhoite laid to rest two Cee-Bees on strikes, while limiting the Cee-Bees to two hits in gaining the nod from the mound. Wilhoite helped himself out at the plate with a two-RBI double, while Chase Miller unloaded a single and a double, plating a run. The red-hot Grant Cain and Jake Starkey continued their torrid hitting with RBI singles.
The Eagles would have played host to Shadyside Tuesday after this newspaper's press time, but will head back on the road to Oak Glen Thursday to take on the Golden Bears at 5:30 p.m.
