Valley 15, Hundred 6
Peyton Palmer was 4-5, including a double and a triple, while knocking in a career-high seven runs to lift the Lumberjacks from a 6-5 deficit to claim a 15-6 victory over county rival Hundred April 14 in Pine Grove. It was Valley's first win of the season against five defeats.
From the mound, Palmer was just effective. He came in relief of Jeremy Bucher with one out in the third frame and sat down seven Hornets, while limiting them to one hit and no earned runs to get the win from the hill.
Hayden Lancaster was 3-4 with an RBI, while Taylor Bates singled and doubled twice and knocked in three runs to back Palmer's four-hit night. In addition, Bucher singled, doubled and plated a run, while scoring three times and stealing three bases. The fleet-footed Dusty Lowe stole four bases, while scoring three times and belting two singles.
There were no stats available again for Hundred. Valley will host Clay-Battelle tonight, Frontier on Thursday and St. Marys Friday. Meanwhile, Hundred will host the Cee-Bees Thursday. All games get underway at 5 p.m.
St. John 8, Valley 7
The 'Jacks' Taylor Bates doubled, singled twice and stole a base, while knocking in three runs, but it wasn't enough to get past Bellaire St. John 8-7 April 8 in Pine Grove.
Peyton Palmer scored the Valley's first run on a Colton Ring double, who later scored on a Caleb Palmer single.
In the third frame, Hayden Lancaster led off with a walk, teammate Dusty Lowe singled and Caleb Palmer drove them in. Bates smacked his third hit of the game and scored on a Brandon Stoneking single.
Valley scored its final run in the fifth when Ring singled, stole second and moved to third on a fielder's choice and scored on a Lancaster sacrifice fly.
Ring and Caleb Palmer each added a single and a double, while knocking in a pair. Peyton Palmer singled twice, while Lowe singled, and Lancaster brought home a run on a sacrifice fly.
Colby Bucher started and threw three and two-thirds innings, issued seven walks and struck out three. Triston Kocher took the loss in relief, while Stoneking finished the seventh from the hill, striking one.
Tygarts Valley 14, Valley 0
Brandon Stoneking struck out 16 batters, but five walks and three Lumberjack errors cost Valley a win in the second game of a double header with the home-standing Tygarts Valley April 12.
The 'Jacks lost the opener 14-0. The Lumberjacks had only six hits in both games with Stoneking, Taylor Bates and Caleb and Peyton Palmer getting hits.
Palmer took the loss in the opener, striking out six.
River 10, Valley 0
Cole Isaly held the lumber of Valley to three hits and struck out seven to help the River Pilots claim a 10-0 shutout April 9 in Hannibal.
Jarett Armann knocked in three runs with a pair of hits, while Eric Dierkes and Zach Dennis each pounded out a pair of RBI hits. Wes Smith and Jordan Doty each plated a run with a single.
