The Paden City Lady 'Cats scored 15 runs with two outs in the home half of the first inning and held on for a 15-1 victory in a mercy-rule shorten game.
Amber Neff twirled a one-hitter, struck out five and walked five to pick up the win from the rubber, while Megan Pierce singled and tripled in two runs to pace the Lady 'Cats.
Taylor Cosper added three hits, while Tori Anderson and Kayla Hizer each had two hits. Abby Still drove in two runs.
The 'Jills Gracie Hayes had the only hit for Valley, while Cassidy West scored their only run.
The Lady 'Jills will next play Cameron tonight in Dragon territory at 6 p.m. and at Tyler Consolidated on Thursday, also at 6 p.m. The Lumberjills will host their home opener against Notre Dame March 28 at 5 p.m. Meanwhile the Lady 'Cats were scheduled to play Bishop Donahue yesterday after press time and will host Clay-Battelle tonight at 5:30 p.m. On Thursday, Paden City travels to Cameron, then to Magnolia on Friday. On Saturday at noon, the Lady 'Cats will host Parkersburg Catholic in a double header.
