New Martinsville's Riverview Plaza will begin to look a bit different as plans to build a Holiday Inn Express are underway at the location.
At the Bayer Heritage Federal Credit Union Business After Hours on March 20, representatives from Holiday Inn Express announced the plans to build the 79-room hotel, as well as their partnership with Bayer HFCU.
The Holiday Inn Express New Martinsville will be the area's first Holiday Inn Express & Suites hotel. The hotel will be hiring 25 employees, ranging from management, front desk, housekeeping, maintenance, to breakfast.

The new 45,702 sq.-ft. property will offer a variety of amenities such as: 24-hour fitness center, front desk, 24-hour indoor-pool, and complimentary full hot breakfast. Standard Holiday Inn Express guest rooms feature comfortable queen or king-sized beds, a sitting area with a lounge chair, and an in-room coffee machine featuring complimentary Smart Roast 100 percent Arabica coffee. Business travelers will find large desks with ergonomic chairs, free high-speed internet access, and free local phone and toll free (U.S. and Canada only) phones with private voicemail and complimentary USA TODAY newspapers.

Guests at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites New Martinsville will experience a comfortable and smart environment with innovative preferred guest upgrades to ensure a productive stay while traveling for business or leisure. The hotel's newly enhanced complimentary Express Start breakfast bar will feature a full range of breakfast items including a rotation of egg and meat selections, biscuits, yogurt, fruit, and the brand's proprietary cinnamon roll and Smart Roast coffee.
The SimplySmart shower incorporates a proprietary Stay Smart Kohler showerhead, signature shower curtain with curved rod, upgraded 100 percent cotton terry Holiday Inn Express towels, and a custom line of cinnamon-scented bath products. "We have locations south of (New Martinsville), and we received business at our hotels coming from that area, so we saw the need in that respect."
Hardway stated that construction is expected to begin "hopefully within the next 90 days," with opening of the new hotel slated for spring 2015.
