William Patrick Carroll, 63, of 88 Rose Mar Terrace Apt. 215, Parkersburg, W.Va., will spend 25-100 years in prison for sexual offenses committed against a male minor.

On Tuesday, in Wetzel County Circuit Court, Carroll pleaded guilty before the Honorable Judge David W. Hummel to sexual assault in the first degree. Special Prosecuting Attorney Carl "Worthy" Paul stated the offense occurred in November 2013.

Besides his prison sentence, Carroll is also ordered to pay a sum of $5,000. He also must register as a sex offender upon his release from prison and, upon his release, he will then be under supervised release for 20 years.

Per the terms of the plea agreement, two other charges of first degree sexual assault were dismissed, and also the state agreed not to file a recidivist against Carroll, as he was already a sex offender prior to this case.

On his Wetzel County Prosecuting Attorney's Facebook page, Prosecuting Attorney Timothy Haught stated that the 25-100 year sentence is "effectively a sentence for the rest of Mr. Carroll's life." Haught added that Carroll is not eligible for parole until 2039 and will not max his sentence out until 2064.

Haught added: "I want to thank the West Virginia State Police, Sergeant Brian Collins, the Tyler/Wetzel Child Advocacy Center, and the West Virginia Department of Human Services, Child Protective Services Division for their prompt action in investigating and charging this case."
