Ballot Set For Primary

February 12, 2014
Wetzel Chronicle

The ballot for the May 13 primary election in West Virginia has been set.

Races exist for the county's representation to the legislature, but not until the general election as the opponents are from different political parties.

Incumbent Senator Larry John Edgell of New Martinsville, Democrat, is being challenged by Republican Kent Leonhardt of Fairview. Also, incumbent Delegate Dave Pethtel, Democrat, is facing opposition from Republican Mary Kay Milliken of New Martinsville.

Larry Lemon, Democrat, is running unopposed for the only available Wetzel County commission seat. He is currently filling, by appointment, the seat vacated by the resignation of Scott Lemley.

Three names are on the ballot for Wetzel County Board of Education-the same number as seats available. Incumbents Michael D. "Mike" Blair and Robert Patterson are seeking re-election while Josh Balcerek looks to take the seat currently filled by Bill Aberegg. Formerly filed for the office, Nathan Anderson and Rob Christen have withdrawn their names from the ballot.

Carroll Cumberledge and Allen Rush are seeking-reelection to as Upper Ohio Conservation District Supervisors.

Absentee voting is available now through May 7. Simply request an absentee ballot from the county clerk's office.

Early voting will be available April 30 through May 10. Early voting is open during regular business hours at each county courthouse or annex. Early voting is also available each Saturday during the early voting period from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
