Letter to the Editor,
On behalf of the Sistersville Lions Club, I want to thank the many generous community members who contributed donations and gifts to two Lions Club events:
-the Rummage Sale which we held on Saturday, Sept. 28 during Marble Fest, and
-the Annual Lions Club Sistersville Halloween Parade and Costume contest
Thanks to the generosity of these donors, the Rummage Sale raised over $500. This money will be used to provide eye exams and eyeglasses for Sistersville residents who cannot afford these services. We also want to thank Jim and Mary King for their cooperation in helping with this sale. As usual, they and the many workers who helped to organize and conduct Marble Fest did a fantastic job and it was truly a wonderful community event.
Individuals and businesses in Sistersville also generously contributed gifts and donations for the Halloween parade and we were able to award fantastic prizes to over 230 children who participated in the costume contest. Despite the inclement weather, the parade and activities surrounding this event were a big success. Thanks also to the volunteer judges who participated in the costume judging and the Tyler Consolidated Marching Band for leading the parade.
Our next project will be collecting donations to help individuals and families who are supporting a family member in Journey Hospice during the Christmas holidays. Now in its third year, this project collects money to buy gas and food vouchers (no alcohol or tobacco) to help needy families, as identified by the Journey Hospice leadership, during this difficult time. We also provide, anonymously, Christmas gifts for any children in these families. Checks can be made payable to the Sistersville Lions Club with Journey Hospice in the memo line. Checks can be dropped off at the Thrasher Administrative Center, attention Brandon Chadock. For more information about this project, please contact Sisty Walsh, Lions Club Secretary, email@example.com or 304-652-4012.
Again, thank you all for your continued support of the Sistersville Lions Club and our community projects!
Brandon Chadock, president
