It's A Christmas Mood

I know a lot of people think it is simply wrong to have anything to do with Christmas until after Thanksgiving. No decorations. No music. No nothing.

I disagree. I think the Christmas season flies by far too quickly. Before we know it the presents will be opened, the wrapping and boxes will be out for trash pick up, and a new year will start.

Why not make it all last a bit longer?

I don't think of it as skipping or ignoring Thanksgiving. The way I?see it, you cannot have Christmas without giving thanks. It all works in concert for a fabulous holiday season. . . one I started a week or so ago.

I don't have any decorations up -- in fact I just took down my singular Halloween decoration. (Sorry, my life is just too busy to get too into the decorating thing.)

But I am listening to Christmas music in full force. I even bought a new CD player for the office so I can bring the cheer here.

Interestingly enough, I also just bought a new Christmas CD that includes a song titled, "The Day After Thanksgiving". Brandon Heath croons about not wanting to see any red and green until that day. I sing along, even though I don't agree. In fact, I smirk when I hear, "I don't wanna see an inflatable nothin' 'til the day after Thanksgiving."

I don't have any inflatable nothin', much to my daughter's chagrin, but I wouldn't rule it out. She wants to see if there will be one on sale this Black Friday. Ahh, but then it would be allowed wouldn't it? The day after Thanksgiving!
