Celedon Sets Boys’ Single Season Scoring Record In Win

Oscar Celedon scored nine goals to lead Magnolia to a 10-3 victory over Wheeling Central in the WV Section 1 Region 1 opener Oct. 21 at the New Martinsville Hydro Field. Alex Anderson had the other Magnolia tally.

The nine goals broke the boys' school record, which is held by Andi Robinson of the girls' team, with 10 goals against North Marion in their first season of girls soccer.

A second-half power surge from the Blue Eagles ended the sectional semifinals at Hydro Field Oct. 23 by the score of 2-0 against Tyler Consolidated.

The Silver Knights' Austin Souders and Frederico Perez each recorded second-half goals, while goal keeper Nathan Heintzman earned the shutout with seven saves. The Eagles' keeper, Franki Grilli, made eight saves.
