Grace Bersiford scored 17 points, including a trio of service aces to lead Magnolia to over Parkersburg (White) in straight sets to win its final match in the Parkersburg South Fall Brawl Volleyball Tournament over the weekend.
Mallory Chapman followed with 11 points, while Taylor Ludewig added nine points and Kelsi Chapman put on seven more points. Bailey Estep contributed six points and made 17 assists, while Ashley Moore tacked on three points.
In the opener against the hosts, it was nip and tuck throughout. However, South won the first set 25-22, while the Lady Eagles responded with a 25-22 victory in the second set of the best of three match. South would take the Eagles in OT, 17-15, to claim the nod.
Mallory Chapman netted a team-high 13 points, including six service aces, while blasting 10 kills and blocking eight South shots at the net. Bersiford and Kelsi Chapman each recorded a dozen markers, while Taylor Ludewig responded with 11 points.
In addition, Bailey Estep tacked on eight points and made 28 assists and four blocks, while Cierra Fowler blasted a team-high 13 kills and blocked four shots. Ashley Moore followed with six points and eight digs, while Evan Bailey tacked on three digs and made four blocks.
The Eagles lost their second match to the Lady Brooke Bruins in straight sets, 25-17 and 26-24. Bersiford and Bailey Estep each paced the Eagles with eight markers, while Bailey added 18 assists. Ludewig and Mallory Chapman each recorded seven markers, while Kelsi Chapman contributed six and Moore three points. Fowler had a team-high eight kills and four blocks.
`The Lady Eagles will host Cameron tonight at 6 p.m. and will visit Paden City Oct. 29 in a tri match that will include Williamstown. It all gets underway at 6 p.m.
