The homecoming king and queen of Hundred High School will be crowned Friday, during halftime of Hundred's football game against Cameron. Homecoming festivities continue Saturday night during Hundred's homecoming dance, which will take place in the school's commons area, beginning at 7 p.m.

Magnolia High School will celebrate its homecoming events the weekend of Oct. 11-12. Festivities start Friday with the Homecoming Parade of the senior queen candidates, the underclass princesses, their escorts, cheerleaders, and the band, which will leave from the front of the school at 6 p.m., following Maple Avenue to North Street to Main Street to the football field. The Homecoming Queen will be crowned by Principal Kathi Schmalz during halftime events at the football game against Weir High School. The weekend's events will conclude with the Homecoming Dance on Saturday. The five queen candidates, who are all seniors, and the underclass princesses were selected by their classmates, while the queen will be chosen by the entire student body.

The queen candidates are:

Emily Jo Berisford is the daughter of Randy and Linda Berisford of New Martinsville. Her grandparents, who formerly lived in Paden City; are Jerry Cook of Tennessee and Laura Meadows of Florida. She is secretary of the senior class and serves as co-chairman of service projects for National Honor Society. A member of the National Art Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta math honorary, she is a Rotary Student of the Month for February. Emily belongs to Service Club, Young Life, Relay for Life, and the Drug Free Club and is a member of the Color Guard with the band. She has volunteered with Kids' Kollege and at the New Martinsville Public Library's Story Time activities. She plans to major in elementary education and attend West Liberty University next year. Emily's escort is Alex Miller, son of Robert A. Miller and Sheri A. Whorton.

Lauren Kelley Cline, the daughter of Bill and Marcie Cline, attends St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church. Her grandparents are Bob and Judy Cline and Wanda and the late Herman Koerber of Paden City. Lauren is a four-year setter for the varsity volleyball team and was a co-captain her junior year. She is a three-year varsity track runner who has gone to the state track meet the last three years and participated in all four of her events her junior year. She is co-president of National Honor Society and a member of Science National Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta math honorary. Lauren participates in Service Club, Drug Free Club, Impact Group, Relay for Life committee, and YLU, and serves on Student Council. She works at Baristas cafe and is a co-captain of The Tribe club volleyball team. Her future plans include going to WVU to study exercise physiology with the goal of becoming a physical therapist. Brantley Hissom, the son of Rick and Alicia Hissom, will escort Lauren.

Joanna Graham is the daughter of Wyatt and Melinda Graham. Bill and Fauniel Graham and Inez Buck and the late Dale Buck are her grandparents. She is an active volunteer at the New Martinsville Public Library, where she is a favorite with the children at Story Time, and she works as a waitress at La Pasta Bella restaurant. She is co-president of National Honor Society, president of the Technology Student Association, and vice-president of the Art National Honor Society. A member of Mu Alpha Theta math honorary and Science National Honor Society, Joanna is a Rotary Student of the Month for September. She belongs to Service Club, Impact Group, Relay for Life, the Drug Free Club, and Young Ladies Union, and serves on Student Council. She plans to attend West Virginia University to prepare for a career in secondary education. Joanna's escort is Logan Massey, the son of Jeff and Renee Massey.

Amanda Meredith Mayo is the daughter of Charlie and Jeanette Mayo and the granddaughter of Jim and Sandy Jenkins and the late Merritt and Catherine Mayo. Amanda is a member of National Honor Society, Science National Honor Society, Technology Student Association, and participates in Relay for Life. She is very active in the theater program at Magnolia and is president of the school's Thespian Troupe #531. Amanda will play the White Rabbit in this year's musical production of Alice in Wonderland. She has been elected to membership on the West Virginia State Thespian Board and is a state officer for the Technology Student Association. After graduation, Amanda plans to attend West Liberty University to major in education. Her escort is Charley Wade, the son of Ronnie and Missy Wade.

Tara Dawn Zimmerman Wright is the daughter of Donna Zimmerman Wright and Matthew and Donna Wells-Wright of Sistersville. She is the granddaughter of Ione Clark and the late Harold Clark and Virginia Hoskins and the late Eugene Hoskins. She attends the Mormon Church. Tara is an active member of FFA and was chosen Greenhouse Volunteer of 2013. She has been a wrestling mat-maid since the seventh grade, has run track, and is a member of the Drug Free Club. Tara volunteers at sporting events and is a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post #67. She participated in all ArtsLink and Missoula Children's Theatre plays from 2005-2011. She plans to further her education towards becoming a vo-ag teacher or some other agricultural career. Tara will be escorted by Marshall Cecil, the son of Janet Long Cecil and Randy Cecil.

Junior princess Kelsey Leann Newman is the daughter of Dean and Debbie Newman and the granddaughter of the late Kenneth and Dorothy Newman and the late Aldine and Velma Billiter. She is a member of the Paden Fork Christian Church and participates in the Relay for Life walk. Kelsey's school activities include membership in the Drug Free Club of America, prom committee, Service Club, and Student Council. She is a peer tutor and member of the Color Guard with the band. Kelsey helps raise money for the Relay for Life committee with her handmade jewelry. She plans to attend college and study some area of the medical field. Her escort is Zachary Lockhart, the son of Brian and Melissa Lockhart.

Emma Paige Thomas is the sophomore princess. The daughter of Dwight and Betsy Thomas, she is the granddaughter of Linda and the late Charles Tennant, Iris and the late Carl Thomas, and the great-granddaughter of the late Betty Lemasters. She is active in 4-H and Young Life and has been named to the honor roll. Emma is a member of Thespian Troupe #531 and will play the part of Pigeon in the Magnolia Theater Department's production of Alice in Wonderland. She belongs to the Drug Free Club, Choir and the Percussion Ensemble, and plans to become a cosmetologist and move to New York City in the future. Jordan Shultz, the son of James and Jennifer Miller, is Emma's escort.

Freshman princess Devann Christine Fox is the daughter of Paul and Cindy Fox of Proctor. Her grandparents are John and Lorna Miller and Eleanor and the late Louis Fox. Devann attends St. Joseph Catholic Church and is a member of the Silver BeBee's 4-H Club. At Magnolia, she is a member of the FFA and Technology Students Association. She will be escorted by Joey Sidenstricker, the son of Troy and Lisa Sidenstricker.
