The River Pilots, 0-3. on the season, struggled again last week against Monroe Central, who prevailed in a 47-0 shutout.
The Pilots were held to 86 yards total offense with 14 totes resulting in negative real estate.
'It all starts in the trenches," said River head Football Coach M?ike Flannery. "Our people know we're playing young kids, but it's time they stepped up."
It was difficult for River to move the chains. Tailback Jordan Sapp had 17 carries for minus eight yards, while QB Joey Flannery was 6-16 for 44 yards and three picks. Bryce Cross had 29 yards rushing and caught five passes for 36 yards.
The Pilots hope for a breakout Sept. 20 game when they cross the Ohio to play Magnolia on Alumni Field with a 7 p.m. kickoff.
