River Wins Over Frontier

The River High School Volleyball Team took down Frontier Local Sept. 5 by scores of 25-15, 26-24 and 25-15, ending a week of victories that moved the Lady Pilots to 2-3 n the season.

"I thought the girls came out focused and ready to play," said Head Volleyball Coach Jim Turner. "I expect very good things from them the rest of the season."

Abby Caldwell fired 17 points and a dig, while Emily Hinton put 16 markers on the board.

Those contributions included two and fours aces, respectively. In addition, Hinton made 15 assists, killed a shot and blocked another one and had three digs.

Mackenzie Wade followed in scoring with 12 points that included five from the serving line. Wade also had four digs and three kills.

Amanda Bennett had five aces and another six points in the match, while making one assist, four kills and three digs.

Jensen Caretti and Monica Curtis each pumped in eight points that included an ace each, while Nikki Haught also scored eight points, plus another two aces.

Caretti had eight kills, five blocks and seven digs, while Curtis made six digs and dished out 19 assists. Haught killed four Frontier volleyballs, had one block and two digs.

Mackenzie Marshall scored six points that included three aces, three kills and four digs. Also scoring for the Lady Pilots were Corisa Fickiesen and Ashley Keith with one point each. Fickiesen killed four Frontier shots, blocked another three and had two digs. Keith had three kills and a dig.

But the Lady Pilots weren't finished. Mikayla Cieszeski killed four balls and blocked four; Delaney Dominiak had eight kills and three digs; Maddie Greathouse delivered one ace and had two digs, while Katie Bowersock also had two digs.

RHS-Linsly

On Sept. 9, Bennett had 10 aces in scoring 19 points against the visiting Linsly Lady Cadets in a 27-25, 25-21 25-18 victory. She also had two kills and a dig. Caretti had 10 points, two aces, five digs and used her noticeable height advantage for 13 kills and two blocks.

Marshall's 10 digs were a factor in her 11 points against Linsly, four of them from the service line, and added three kills. Caldwell put up 10 points, two aces and had as many digs, while Curtis sent up four points plus two aces. She also assisted 22 times and had a dig. Wade had five markers that included two aces and had seven digs.

Other Lady Pilots contributing stats in the match were Cieszeski with three kills and a block; Cheyenne Scherich with five kills, three aces and nine digs; and Miah Runkle, who two aces, one kill and 15 digs.
