The high school golf season got underway at the Riverside Golf Course in Sardis Aug. 8. Magnolia and River took first and second places, respectively, while Paden City and St. John followed in order.
The lowest score went to the Blue Eagles freshman Peyton Moore, with a 38 for nine holes, while Jake Starkey tallied a 39. Other players who scored for the Blue Eagles were Brantley Hissom with a 44; Shane Mason, 44; Matthew Durig, 46 and Derrick Blain with 47.
No scores were turned in by River or Paden City.
The Eagles dropped to second in Moundsville, losing a close one to Linsly. Top scorers in 18 holes for Magnolia were Moore, 79; Hissom, 86; Blain, 89; Starkey, 94; Mason, 95; and Durig, 104.
The Eagles will play once more at their home course at Riverside Aug. 15 at 4:15 p.m.
