Tiger Shovelnose Catfish Caught In LWP Pond

July 31, 2013
Wetzel Chronicle

New Martinsville resident Ryan Isaacs hauled in a two-pound, nine ounce, 21-inch Tiger Shovelnose Catfish out of the Lewis Wetzel Parks Pond while bait fishing.

Isaacs called the DNR and they told him that the weird looking fish was not a native fish at all, but whose habitat is the Amazon River.

It is not known how the fish got in the Lewis Wetzel Pond. However, wildlife officials suggest it may have "escaped" from someone's fish aquarium at some time.
