Ebert Leads HHS

Valedictorian Emily Martel Ebert and Salutatorian Ashley Danielle Yoho led the Hundred High School Class of 2013 in commencement exercises on May 25, 1 p.m.

Ebert is the daughter of Joseph and Carla Ebert of Hundred and Mary Ann and Mike Hajzer of Snowshoe, W.Va. She is the granddaughter of Mark and Wilda Hostuttler of Hundred and Mary and Jim Brown of Shippingville, Pa.

Not only a scholar, Ebert has been involved in cheerleading for four years, serving as co-captain; volleyball for two years, captain, all OVAC the last two years, and all-Mason Dixon; basketball for four years, captain, second team All Mason-Dixon, and All Tournament Bob Burton Christmas Classic; and softball for four years, captain, All OVAC, and All Mason-Dixon.

Ebert was been a member of the National Honor Society, Academic Letterman, Student Council (four years), and served as Senior Class President.

She has received the Ben Church Athletic Scholarship, 1974 Blue/White Scholarship, OVAC Pepsi Cola Scholarship, Willie Baker Memorial Scholarship, The United States Army Reserve Honors for Academic and Athletic Excellence, and Outstanding Senior Athlete Winner from the American Legion.

She was also a 2012 Prom Princess, the 2013 Homecoming Queen, and a state finalist for the America's Homecoming Queen Pageant.

Yoho is the daughter of Darren and Waneta Yoho of Knob Fork. While maintaining a GPA above a 4.0, Yoho participated in several school and extra-curricular activities, such as; the Varsity cheerleading squad (2009-2013, 2012-2013 Captain), Student Council (class President 2009-2012), HHS Student Body President (2012-2013), the National Honor Society (2012-2013), West Virginia's Governor's Honors Academy (2012), Hundred High School Local School Improvement Council (2012-2013 President), HHS Color-guard (2011 &2012 Captain), HHS Chorus (2009-2013), Travel Club (2011-2013), Drama Club (2009-2013), HHS 2012 Homecoming Princess, and HHS 2012 Prom Queen.

In addition to her long list of activities, Yoho has received over $40,000 in scholarships, including the PROMISE Scholarship and several others, for the furthering of her education beyond high school. She plans to attend West Virginia University this fall to earn an undergraduate Biology degree, and then attend WVU's School of Medicine so she can practice General Pediatrics. Yoho would like to thank her parents for always encouraging her that she could do anything that she set her mind on and her sister for always being a biggest fan.
