Durant Wins Weekley OV?Match Play Event

Two Weeks Remain To Qualify For Finale

May 1, 2013
Wetzel Chronicle

Mike Durant won for the second time this year, scoring a 229 to Dud Snider's 205 in weekly match play that won him $50, compliments of weekly sponsor Buddy Light Accounting.

The weekly event featured two of the most successful bowlers in match play history. Snider, the only back-to-back and three-time Grande Finale Champion, will be competing in his 24th finale May 18 to tie with Doug Tuskey for the most all-time finale appearances.

Durant, also a past Grande Finale Champion, will be competing in his 20th appearance. His win over Snider was Durant's 20th weekly event, placing him fifth in the most-won category.

Snider was the two-game high qualifier with games of 236-203-38 hdcp. for a 477. Durant slipped by Rich Allen 197-190 in one semifinal, while Snider eliminated Lil Miller in the other semi.

Dave Johnson is still on top of the Point List with a 1,005 cumulative, while Ron O'Neil Jr. (650), John Leek (565), and Gary Isner (490) round out the top four bowlers.

The leading 24 on the list qualify for the 35th annual Grande Finale, while the top eight earn a first-round bye in the match-play segment of the finale.

Tournament sponsor are, once again, Miller Lite, Capitol Beverage, and Buddy Light Accounting.
