‘Pilots Win DH; ‘Cats Fall In OVAC

Luke Cooper drilled four singles, but it wasn’t enough as the Wildcats went down 15-8 in high school baseball action April 25 at Paden City Park.

Paden City scored three runs in the first and second innings, but the Bishops responded with three runs in the first and four more in the second to take a one-run lead after two innings of play.

The Bishops added a run in the fourth and three more in the sixth to break the game wide open. However, the ‘Cats clawed out a pair of runs in the bottom half of the sixth to pull to within three runs after six complete.

But, Donahue plated four more runs in the seventh to put the game away for good.

Zach Heasley took the loss from the mound. He walked four in an inning of work, while Levi Meadows came in relief, struck out three and walked two. In addition to Cooper’s four singles, the ‘Cats’ Craig Allen pounded out a pair of singles, while Michael Wilcox drove in a two-base runner on a pair of ground outs.

River 8-7, Frontier 0-0

The River Pilots beat the Frontier Cougars 8-0 and 7-0 in a double-header baseball shut out April 27 at Frontier Local.

Cody Caldwell and Chad Isaly pitched a two and three hitters, respectively, for the win off the hill, while Isaly knocked in four runs with a double and three singles in the two games.

In addition, Kameron Brown doubled and singled three times and plated a pair. Caldwell smacked an RBI double in game two and Smith knocked a pair of singles in game one.
