Magnolia's Mallory Chapman belted a two-run triple and Audrey Gibb drilled an RBI triple to power Magnolia to a thrilling 4-3 victory over the Brooke Bruins March 29 at the Wheeling's I-470 J.B. Chambers Sports Complex.
Chapman also picked up the win from the rubber. She struck out three and didn't walk a batter.
The Lady Eagles saw nothing but Ks in a loss to the two-time Class-A WVSSAC State Champions Buffalo. The Bison flame-thrower, Ali Burdette, recorded 14 strike outs and issued one free pass to earn the win. Chapman was the hard-luck losing pitcher. She struck out six, walked five, and scattered five hits.
Magnolia's two hits both came from Chapman - a single and a double.
