‘Cats Win Double-Header

Paden City’s Zach Heasley hit for the cycle in a double-header sweep of Bellaire St. John (12-8) and Wood County Christian (18-4) April 1 at Paden City Park.

In the opener against St. John, Heasley lifted a three-run shot in the fifth, while Isaac Hall struck out eight Irish batters to pace the Wildcats in the 12-8 win.

Levi Meadows singled twice and plated two on a double, while Luke Cooper drilled three singles. In addition Meadows, Deven Price, and Andrew Dennis each scored three runs. Craig Allen brought home three runs on a single and two groundouts, while Price added an RBI single. Dennis, Hall, and Tyler Stackpole each lined a single.

Meadows, who got the save in relief, struck out one and didn’t walk a batter.

In the nite-cap, the Wildcats batted a round in the first, second, and third innings, while Heasley picked up where he left off in the opener, smacking a triple and a double and lining a pair of singles. He also brought home three runs.

Heasley got the win from the mound, striking out two and limiting Wood County to three hits in five innings. Dennis worked the final two frames, striking out one batter while walking one.

Price singled three times and stole three bases, while Hall drove home four runs on a double and a sacrifice fly. Meadows, Cooper, Michael Wilcox, and Craig Allen each smacked two base hits, while Dennis and Stackpole each added RBI singles.

In addition, Price, Allen, Cooper, and Wilcox each scored three times, while Meadows, Allen, and Wilcox each swiped a pair of bases.

The Wildcats have a double header against Frontier at Paden City Park April 6 starting at noon.
