The New Martinsville Buck$ Basketball Team and the Wetzel County Relay For Life have announced that the Harlem Rockets Comedy Basketball Team will be at Magnolia High School March 28 at 7 p.m., with the proceeds from the sale of tickets to benefit the Wetzel County Relay For Life.

Tickets are still available for this fun-filled event at $6 ticket in advance or $8 at the door the night of the game. Advance tickets are available at Witschey’s Supermarket or by contacting Steve Kastigar at 304-455-9101. They also are available at the Wetzel Chronicle at 1102 Third St., by WalMart.

Concessions will be available for purchase. Last year, the Rockets beat the Bucks and helped raise more than $2,000 for the Wetzel County Relay For Life.

New Martinsville School will sponsor a volleyball camp from 6:30-8 p.m. on March 25 and March 27 for second through sixth graders. Cost is $15 per child. All participants must have medical insurance.

A West Virginia Hunter Education Course will be held March 29-30, from 5 -9:30 p.m. on Friday and 8 a.m.-p.m. on Saturday. Pre-registration is required. The class will take place in the Mollohan Center at the Wetzel County 4-H camp grounds. Each student must bring proof of identification.

Included in the training will be basic gun safety, information about the different types of firearms and ammunition, archery, wildlife management, shooting, personal safety and survival, game care, and hunter responsibility.

John Korns, 20, of New Martinsville, placed as runner-up in the lightweight division, 139 pounds and under, in the Toughman Contest held in Wheeling March 8. He was the only Wetzel Countian to place in the event. A total of 10 men and two women from Wetzel County entered the contest.

The New Martinsville Soccer Club is holding its Spring Competitive Soccer sign ups. Pending sufficient participation and coaching, teams will be formed for the following age groups: Under 10 Co-Ed; Under 12 Co-Ed; and Under 15 Co-Ed.
