A West Virginia Hunter Education Course will be held March 29-30, from 5 -9:30 p.m. on Friday and 8 a.m.-p.m. on Saturday. Pre-registration is required. The class will take place in the Mollohan Center at the Wetzel County 4-H camp grounds. Each student must bring proof of identification.

Included in the training will be basic gun safety, information about the different types of firearms and ammunition, archery, wildlife management, shooting, personal safety and survival, game care, and hunter responsibility.

Advanced sale tickets to the Magnolia vs Clay-Battelle regional boys' basketball game on Thursday, March 7, at Magnolia will be on sale in the main office on Wednesday from 8:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. and on Thursday from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Students $5 and adults $7. All tickets at the gate will be $7 and only WVSSAC passes will be accepted.

The annual 33rd Ohio Valley Toughman Tournament at WesBanco Arena gets underway March 8-9 with many local participants vying for the right to be called the toughest man or woman in the Ohio Valley.

In the heavyweight division, Keenan Slampak will duke it out with the big boys, while in the lightweight class, Elum Main, Cody Nelson, and Curtis Tedrow will clash with the light weights.

In the middleweight class it's Cody Steele; and in the lightweight division, Brandon Jones and Josh Kerns.

Two local females will be featured in the female heavyweight division, Heather Estep and Jessica Kanneg.

The Biggest Loser RunWalk heads to Charleston for a Get Fit, Get Ready 5K/10K race on June 29. From the first-time runner to the elite athlete, participants are encouraged to get off the couch and hit the pavement to gear up for an inspirational event.

The race will start at 9 a.m. for the 5K/10K located at 31st St. and Virginia Ave. This race is a chip-timed race for participants tracking personal goals with special awards given to the top runners and walkers.
