Fordyce Pleads Guilty To Theft

Daniel Ray Fordyce, 33, of HC 61, Box 3, Littleton, pleaded guilty Friday to a lesser included offense, attempted transfer of stolen goods of count two of his two-count indictment.

The matter is returnable for sentencing on April 19, 10 a.m. A pre-sentencing report will be filed by Chief Probation Officer John D. Lantz. The state recommends that Fordyce be confined to the West Virginia Penitentiary for Men for a period of one to three years. Fordyce would also be required to pay restitution; the state would move for the dismissal of count one of Fordyce's indictment, which charged him with grand larceny.

Fordyce's two-count indictment was handed down by the September 2012 grand jury. The indictment alleges that on or about Feb. 8, 2011, Fordyce allegedly stole goods totaling more than $1,000 from Savage Heavy Highway. His second count alleges that between Feb. 8, 2011, and April 3, 2011, Fordyce allegedly transferred to Andrew Burt Wade a Husqvarna K750 14" chop saw valuing more than $1,000, which belonged to Savage Heavy Highway.

At the Feb. 22 hearing, Fordyce admitted to committing the offenses, stating of a Husqvarna chop say, "I took it and stole it."
