The following personnel and routine matters met the board's approval at Monday's meeting of the Wetzel County Board of Education:

Personnel Matters:

Carolyn R. Hizer, acceptance of resignation from position as Assistant Girls' Track Coach at Paden City High School, effective immediately.

Beth A. Sigley, acceptance of resignation from position as Boys' Track Coach at Long Drain School, effective Feb. 6.

Ted G. Sumner, acceptance of resignation from position as Girls' Track Coach at Long Drain School, effective Feb. 6.

Toby L. Willis, acceptance of resignation from position as Assistant Boys' Track Coach at Paden City High School, effective immediately.

Professional Personnel:

Claudia S. Philp, approval for employment as Countywide Substitute Teacher, effective Feb. 19. (non-certified).

Service Personnel:

Justin F. Herrick, approval for change in assignment from Countywide Substitute Custodian (682-B) to Half-time Evening Custodian II (682-B), 228-day contract, at Paden City Elementary and will remain Half-time Countywide Substitute Custodian (682B), effective Feb. 19.

Djuana G. Kennedy, approval for change in assignment from Countywide Substitute Bus Operator (655-D) to Bus Operator -Bus #18, Mt. Herman/Robinson Ridge/Sugar Run/Littleton/Long Drain (655-D), effective Feb. 19.

Lea A. Summers, approval for employment as Countywide Substitute Bus Operator (655-D),effective Feb. 19. (Pending WV State Certification)

Extracurricular:

Olivia L. Gump, approval for contracted services position as Extended Day Tutor (Title I) at Long Drain School, effective Feb. 5.

Marla J. LaRue, approval for contracted services position as Extended Day Tutor (Title I) at Long Drain School, effective Feb. 5.

Karen L. Longwell, approval for contracted services position as Extended Day Tutor (Title I) at Long Drain School, effective Feb. 5.

David L. Pethtel, approval for contracted services position as Extended Day Tutor (Title I) at Long Drain School, effective Feb. 5.

Chad W. West, approval for employment as 7th/8th Grade Girls' Track Coach at New Martinsville School, beginning of the 2012-2013 "WVSSAC" Season.

Requests:

In another matter, Mary K. Young was approved for an "unpaid medical leave of absence" from her position as Cook at Paden City Elementary School beginning Feb. 14 through March 5.

Angelle Copeland was approved for her daughter, Leila Rain Copeland, to attend Wetzel County Schools (WCCCF) for the 2013-2014 school year, pending release from Ohio County Schools.

Brittney Arman was given permission for her son, Dawson David Arman, to be released from Wetzel County Schools (WCCCF) to attend Tyler County Schools for the 2013-2014 school year.

Out of State Trips:

Cindy McSweeney and Toni Shaver were given approval to attend the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance National Convention and Exposition in Charlotte, N.C., April 23-27. This trip will be funded through Title I.

Carol Zombotti and Brea McCreary were given permission to attend training in the PROMPT System/Technique (Prompts for Restructuring Oral Muscular Phonetic Targets) in Cleveland, Ohio, April 5-7. This trip is funded through the Federal IDEA School Age 2013 funds.

Amanda McPherson was given permission to take students to the Ramada Limited Ashland/Catlettsburg (hotel) in Catlettsburg, Ky., while attending the Marshall University Honor Band Feb. 21-23. (The other hotels in the area are unavailable.)

Jay Salva was given permission to take Paden City High School's eighth grade students and 10 chaperones to Washington, D.C., May 28-30. This trip is funded through fund raisers and student fees.
