Memory Of Bill Stewart Will Live On

By Staff | Jan 31, 2013

New Martinsville Rotary purchased two outside lights for the Magnolia High School campus in memory of the late Bill Stewart, a New Martinsville native, MHS graduate and former Head Football Coach at West Virginia University.

In the photo, Rotary President Matt Herrick, second from right, presents flowers memorializing the event to Gretchen and Ted Kacor, parents of Stewart’s wife, Karen, who was unable to attend. In addition, a plaque will be installed at the school to mark the occasion.

Standing at front of photo is Magnolia Assistant Basketball Coach Tommy Kacor. Others pictured are, from left of photo, MHS Principal Kathi Schmalz, Ted Kacor, Head Basketball Coach Dave Tallman, Gretchen Kacor, the “Voice of the Blue Eagles” and Rotarian Neill Marshall, Herrick, and Rotary Project Chairman Brian Feldmeier.

The lights, positioned at either side of the front steps leading up to the school, are adorned with a brass eagle on top. The presentation was made during the Rotary-MHS Basketball Challenge Saturday at the high school. (Photo by Bill Abraham)
