Valley Lumberjills Trap Harman Panthers, 49-27

The Valley Lumberjills bested the host Harman Lady Panthers 49-27 Jan. 5, after opening the game with a 19-2 run and going to the break with a comfortable 32-8 advantage.

The ‘Jills refused to pile it on against the Panthers as the huge first half lead saw nine different players dent the Harman scoreboard with all varsity players seeing significant playing time.

Brittany Sivert led the offensive attack with a dozen markers, followed by Sarah Bassett with nine markers and 10 rebounds. Alisha Carter tacked on seven points that included a threeball.

In addition, Megan Bucher, Samantha Thomas, and Abigal Willey each netted four markers, while Karissa Headley, Megan Martin, and Erin “Twiggy” Brown each recorded three points.

Next up for the Lumberjills will be a date with county rival Hundred Lady Hornets in the opener of the Hometown Invitational Tournament (H.I.T.) in Hundred Jan. 12 at 6 p.m.
